Guizhou WZ-2000 (WuZhen-2000 / WZ-9) - Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV), China

Strategic altitude Unmanned Aerial Vehicle type medium-range WZ-2000 (also BZK-009) from the workshop GAIC of Guizhou was created as a successor UAV type WZ-5 (unlicensed copies of US-style Ryan AQM-34n Firebee the 60s), which was to PLAAF weapons included a small number already in the late 70s and 80s. A conceptual level, this machine is strikingly similar to the American type RQ-4 Global Hawk .
Compared to its counterpart in the form of western type RQ-4 but has smaller dimensions and shorter range. The fuselage of the Chinese WZ-2000 also has a flattened cross-section in the horizontal plane and sharp "stealth" edges tapering in swept by a considerable margin. Thanks to this tool WZ-2000 showed relatively little effective radar reflecting surface (RCS), which makes it quite difficult to determine a target for air defense radars. In contrast, US hull machine RQ-4 has flat sides and a straight wing. On the sides of the stern means WZ-2000, as in the case of the model RQ-4 are V-tail with a significant slope outside the longitudinal axis of the body (about 40 °). Among them is then placed nacelle turbofan engine WS-11 with an oval splash in the lead and a ring nozzle at the stern. Thanks to the hot diesel fumes overshadowed the rear fuselage and tail, which partially reduces the intensity of the IR demasking ceilings. Installing the engine above the fuselage has the advantage that the blades of the compressor, which can be considered in terms of RCS as a significant element demasking, hidden from electromagnetic radiation intrusive air defense radars. The front part of the fuselage of the back of the machine as in the case of type RQ-4 flows into the mighty curved antenna cover satellite communication system, for which using the information gathered is transmitted to terrestrial habitats evaluation in real time. On the belly of the bow again is a spherical lens turret with electro-optical reconnaissance systems in the form of reports and IR CCD cameras. Under the fuselage of this machine can not be placed alternatively synthetic aperture radars. For take-off and landing UAV type WZ-2000 uses a three-point retractable wheeled landing gear nose type. The development of this machine ran in 1999. The general public was the project type of UAV-2000 WZ first introduced in 2002 at Airshow China 2002 in the form of a model. First flight was on 26 December 2003, and there is sketchy news that an improved version, possibly designated the WZ-2000B, was due to fly at the end of 2005. A more precise model was on display in 2004 at Airshow China 2004. The first prototype of the device WZ-2000 from the runway lifted off for the first time on 26 December 2003. In 2006, then ran a flight test improved modification of this machine. PLAAF Strategic Unmanned Aerial Vehicle type WZ-2000 operates since 2007 only in small numbers.
